Less than a week remains until the deadline for private sector employers with more than 50 employees to comply with their obligations under the Act on the Protection of Whistleblowers and Persons Publicly Disclosing Information about Violations.

By 17 December 2023 , obliged employers should establish an internal whistleblowing channel, designate a responsible employee to deal with signals, establish a register of signals and put in place a procedure for the administration of signals.

Fines or financial penalties of up to BGN 20 000 may be imposed if the relevant rules are not implemented.
