Grant for intellectual property protection

From 3 February, the new application process for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Fund, implemented in partnership with the Bulgarian Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), will start.

TheIdeas Powered for Business SME Fund is a grantto protect intellectual property rights including trademarks, industrial designs, patents, IP Scan, IP Scan Enforcement.

Its aim is to promote innovation and intellectual property protection among Bulgarian companies.

Who can apply?

The funding is targeted at Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) registered in Bulgaria that wish to protect their intellectual property at national, European or international level.

What Does the Program Offer?

The financial assistance provided by the fund consists of a percentage reimbursement of registration fees:

Up to 75% of the cost of registering trademarks, industrial designs and patents, and the funding may be used to register more than one trademark. The basic fee for a national trade mark registration is EUR 520 and for a European trade mark EUR 850.
Up to 50% reimbursement of patent fees at national, European, and international levels.
90% reimbursement of fees for the IP Scan service (initial diagnostic of intellectual property assets).

The total amount of financial support is up to EUR 700.

Application Deadlines

You can apply from 03 February to 15 December 2025. Funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.. In 2024, funds ran out mid-year and applications were stopped before the announced deadline.
