Ideas Powered for Business SME Fund continues to provide grant funding in the field of industrial property this year.
The programme aims to help protect the intellectual property (IP) rights of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the EU by providing financial assistance for the registration of trademarks, patents and designs. The reimbursement can also be used for IP pre-diagnosis services (IP Scan).
What is the programme about?
The financial assistance provided by the Fund consists in the reimbursement of a percentage of the fees for the registration of industrial property objects. The reimbursement shall amount to 75 % of the fees for the registration of trademarks, industrial designs and patents, and the funding may be used for the registration of more than one trademark.
The fees from the IP Scan service for preliminary diagnosis of intellectual property objects are also 90% refundable.
The total amount of financial support is up to EUR 1 000.
How to apply?
The application is made directly through the EUIPO website, for both national and European applications. To apply, you need to meet the EU criterion for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
Once you have submitted the necessary documents, you will receive the Fund's decision granting funding within one month. Within two months of receiving this decision, you must file your trademark, design or patent application and pay the fee due in full. You will then receive the amount granted by the Fund one month later in a bank account provided by you.
From this year, self-employed persons can also apply for funding. All that is required is a statement of entry in the register of the National Income Tax Office.
Submission of documents began on 22 January and will continue until 06 December 2024. If the funds are exhausted earlier than foreseen, the reception of applications will be suspended before the announced deadline.
